Chelsea and Liverpool have both expressed interest in securing the services of Villarreal and Nigeria national team winger Samuel Chukwueze.
Chukwueze has developed into one of the key players for Villarreal over the past two years and has started in 19 of their 23 La Liga games this campaign.
The African was heavily linked with a £30million switch to Anfield during the winter transfer window and the Merseyside Reds are expected to revive their interest this summer.
But the Daily Mail claims that the Premier League leaders will face stiff competition from their rivals, Chelsea, as they are also interested in striking a deal for Nigerian forward.
As well as starring for La Liga outfits, Chukwueze has become a regular for Nigeria national team and Yellow Submarine value him at £60million.
The Merseyside Reds only bolstered their squad with the signing of Takumi Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg this winter, while Chelsea despite having reduced their transfer ban failed to secure any new faces last month.
Manchester City were another team who were quiet during the winter transfer window, however, the defending champions are expected to plan squad overhaul ahead of the next season in order to compete for PL trophy with Liverpool.
Reds are 22 points ahead of Manchester City with 13 games of the 2019-20 season left, while Chelsea are down in fourth.
Next weekend, Liverpool visit Norwich City and Chelsea host Manchester United.
