Chelsea head-coach Thomas Tuchel will reportedly push hard to bring RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano to the club during the upcoming transfer window.
A €42m (£37.3m) release clause in Upamecano’s deal can be activated at the end of the 2020-21 season, and a number of teams are believed to be interested in securing his services.
Bayern Munich are widely believed to be the frountrunners for the France international, while the Red Devils and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in recent months.
However, the Blues have been mentioned as possible suitors on a number of occasions in recent weeks, and according to Kicker, new boss of Chelsea, Tuchel is determined to bring French defender to Stamford Bridge.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are also believed to be admirers of Upamecano, although the two Spanish teams are struggling financially due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The 22-year-old defender could be in action for France at this summer’s European Championships following his impressive form at RB Leipzig.
Chelsea have sent Fikayo Tomori on loan at AC Milan and he could be departing from the club on permanent basis if the Italian giants decide to keep him at San Siro.
