Chelsea are reportedly ready to go head-to-head with Premier League rivals Everton for the services of Real Madrid defender Sergio Reguilon.

The 23-year-old defender has earned high praise for his form in the 2019-20 La Liga season while being on loan at Sevilla, where he has managed to found back of the net twice and create four assists from 31 top-flight appearences.

The Merseyside Blues have reportedly tabled an opening bid of £18m for the Spanish full-back, who is believed to be rated highly by the powers at Santiago Bernabeu, however, the Los Blancos could allow Reguilon to leave from the club as they look to balance the books in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Frank Lampard’s side hunt for a new defender has been well-documented in the recent weeks, and according to Sky Sports News, the 23-year-old defender is firmly on top of the Blues managers radar.

The West London club are believed to have identified the defender as an ideal alternative to Leicester City’s full-back Ben Chilwell, who would reportedly cost them around £80m despite the financial implications form the coronavirus pandemic.

Reguilon has played 22 games for the Los Blancos in the 2018-19 campaign before being shipped out on loan to Sevilla, and the left-back’s current contract in the Spanish capital set to expire in 2023.
