Chelsea head-coach Frank Lampard is prepared to part ways with French midfield star N’Golo Kante to raise funds to strengthen other areas of his team, according to the reports.
Preparations for the 2020-21 campaign are in full swing for the West London club, who have at least one more game to play this campaign- Saturday’s Champions League last-16 second leg with German champions, Bayern Munich, which they trail 3-0 on aggregate.
Timo Werner and Hakim Zyech have been brought in from RB Leipzig and Ajax respectively, while Bayer Leverkusen’s playmaker Kai Havertz is asl believed to on his way at Stamford Bridge.
Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell and Atletico Madrid’s goalkeeper Jan Oblak – have also been rumoured with a move to the West London club.
The Times reports that Lampard has been informed that he needs to streamline his team and raise funds if he is to push through those signings, however, and N’Golo Kante is among those considered as dispensable.
The France international has endured an injury-plagued 2019-20 season, playing just 26 games in all competitions, and not at all in the Blues last seven games.
Paris Saint-Germain have previously been tipped to make a move for N’Golo Kante, who has three more years left on his current deal.
