Chelsea are reportedly open to handing a new deal to experienced forward Olivier Giroud.
France international striker has been desperate to play regular first-team football and reports have suggested that he could be on his way out from Stamford Bridge when the transfer window will be re-opened in the summer.
For the majority of this campaign, French forward has found himself down the pecking order, resulting in the former Arsenal man almost leaving Stamford Bridge in the winter transfer window.
However, despite the uncertainty over his future, the 33-year-old forward made several starts in a row before football was suspended following the coronavirus pandemic.
According to football.london, the two teams have held discussions regarding the possibility of fresh terms being agreed on in the coming months.
As it stands, Giroud’s contract is due to end on July 1, although that may automatically be extended until the end of the current campaign by FIFA.
The report indicates that France international star would have to be prepared to accept a 12-month contract in order to stay at the West London club.
Chelsea another forward Michy Batshuayi has been rumoured with an exit from Stamford Bridge due to a lack of first-team minutes and Crystal Palace thought to be interested in securing his services.
