Chelsea to use Tomori as makeweight in a deal to sign West Ham Utd key player

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to part ways with academy graduate defender Fikayo Tomori on loan as they look to strike a deal for West Ham United’s key man Decal Rice.

The West London club have already been heavily active in the transfer market and are prepared to welcome Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech to Stamford Bridge ahead of the next season.

Frank Lampard is supposedly keen to shore up his backline this summer transfer window, with English midfielder mentioned as a potential signing alongside with another Englishman, Ben Chilwell.

According to The Athletic, Frank Lampard’s side are open to allowing Tomori to join the London rival on a temporary deal, however, the West London club are reluctant to let the 22-year-old depart from the club permanently following his breakthrough campaign.

However, West Ham would reportedly demand a fee in excess of £70m for Rice, who still has four years on his current deal to expire at the London Stadium.

Should Rice make the move across the capital to join the West London club, the England international would allegedly be used as a centre-back by Frank Lampard despite playing as a defensive midfielder at West Ham United.
