Lyon are ready to cash in on their star player Houssem Aouar during the summer transfer window and want £44.5m for their playmaker, according to reports.

French midfielder is a wanted man, with Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea are keen on to lure him away from Lyon.

RMC Sport suggests that Liverpool are ‘very interested’ in securing the services of Aouar, however, are yet to make direct contact to lure the 21-year-old star at Anfield. Pep Guardiola pushed for the Citizens to seal the transfer in the summer, however, Lyon turned down their offer after convincing Aouar to remain for another year in the French top-tier.

With the coronavirus pandemic set to have a massive impact on the transfer market and fees, Ligue 1 giants will accept an offer of around £44.5m for their star player.

There are yet to be any official approaches for Aouar, however, Lyon expected several teams to eventually make their move. Aouar has missed just three Ligue 1 games this campaign and is eager to continue playing in the Champions League when he does makes a switch to teams.

The Citizens are facing a two-year transfer ban from the competition, while the Merseyside Reds just celebrated their one-year anniversary of claiming the tournament.

The Blues were reportedly prepared to pay £43m for French midfielder’s services before the coronavirus pandemic hit football, however, Frank Lampard is set to be restricted to two major signings.

Roman Abramovich is prepared to spend money to make one or two ‘marquee’ transfers and Lampard is desperate to add left-back and striker.

Liverpool’s ability spend big this summer is likely to be affected by the ongoing health crisis.

Werner and Aouar are long-term targets of Jurgen Klopp’s, however, German forward has been on the verge to become Chelsea player.
