Chelsea transfer target Gabriel Barbosa is known as ‘Gabigol’ – will fly to Milan this week to hold crunch talks with his parent team Inter Milan over his future, according to the reports.
The forward has been in red hot form for Brazilian team Flamengo, founding back of the net 25 times and providing eight assists in 29 appearences, while scoring seven goals in six appearances to help his side win the Copa Libertadores title.
He’s struggled to find his best form in Europe at Inter Milan since his transfer from Santos, however, his resurgance in Brazil has seen him rumoured with Premier League teams West Ham United and Chelsea, although Flamengo are hoping to secure the services of him on a permanent basis.
He will now fly back to Italy to to talks with Inter Milan and discuss his future with the club, according to The Sun.
His current contract with Inter Milan ends in the summer, with his Flamengo loan finishing at the end of December, however, Chelsea were keen on securing a contract in January to bring him to the West London club.
The Blues were believed to be considering using French forward, Olivier Giroud to sweeten the deal, with the former Arsenal man keen to move on after struggling for game time under Frank Lampard.
Gabigol has previously outlined his desire to play in England, saying: ‘I like the Premier League very much. It combines technique, strength and speed. I always follow the games from Brazil.
‘It really is a place I would like to play. It’s one of the best leagues in the world.
‘Every player dreams of being a champion and winning the Premier League must be indescribable.’
