Chelsea turned down chance to sign highly-rated Ligue 1 versatile midfielder

Chelsea have reportedly turned down the chance to secure the services of 17-year-old PSG midfielder Kays Ruiz-Atil.

The West London club are believed to have been tracking the talented playmaker in recent months and even sent technical advisor Claude Makelele to have a meeting with the player’s agent.

Ruiz-Atil has reportedly told Ligue 1 giants PSG that he wants to start training with the first-team squad to make his senior debut soon, however, sporting director Leonardo did not respond favourably to that request.

Goal reports that the creative playmaker has been pushed closer to the exit door as a result, however, that the West London club will not be making a move for his signature.

Ruiz-Atil’s current deal with the French champions ends in 2021, and the likes of the Gunners, Borussia Dortmund and Marseille have also been credited with a strong interest for his services.

The Frenchman was previously at La Liga giants Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, however, left in 2014 after the Spanish outfits were found guilty of breaching FIFA regulations regarding underage players.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been known to give chances to young players and PSG ace could be keen to make move to Stamford Bridge.
