According to a report from The Telegraph, Chelsea’s board have delayed a final decision on defender Fikayo Tomori’s loan move to Everton.
It’s stated that Antonio Rudiger could end up quitting Chelsea, having been left out of the Blues roster to face Liverpool on Sunday.
Frank Lampard wants four centre-halves in his squad, and Tomori’s move now hinges on whether the manager feels that Rudiger will be disruptive if left out.
Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen were given the nod against Liverpool, and with veteran Thiago Silva snapped up, that final spot will be either Antonio or Fikayo.
The 22-year-old came off the bench against Liverpool on Sunday and produced a strong display that may leave Frank favouring him over Rudiger.
That would be a blow for the Toffees, who were in advanced negotiations to sign him on a season-long loan deal according to a recent report from ESPN earlier this month.
Everton only have two recognised central defenders right now in Michael Keane and Yerry Mina, so any further delays to a swoop for Tomori may leave them looking elsewhere.
Meantime, Juventus are allegedly keen on a deal for out-of-favour Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri.
The 26-year-old star’s future at Stamford Bridge has been shrouded in uncertainty ever since the England international Ben Chilwell made the move to the capital from Leicester City.
Inter Milan are said to be leading the race for Emerson’s signature, while West Ham United have also been touted with an interest in recent weeks.
However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Bianconeri are eyeing up Palmieri as an ideal signing following an injury to first choice left-back Alex Sandro.
