Chelsea yet to offer new deal for 17-goals forward

Chelsea head-coach Frank Lampard has reportedly been left unconvinced by the progress of Tammy Abraham.

Despite beginning the 2019/20 campaign in fine form, the 22-year-old forward has recently found himself on the bench as Frank Lampard prefered Olivier Giroud in the starting XI.

While the academy graduate has managed to found back of the net 17 times this campaign, just three of those goals have been recorded since the restart of the season.

According to Football Insider, his lack of productivity in the final third may lead to the West London club being prepared to sell him this summer and they yet to offer him a contract extension.

Although Abraham has a deal until 2023, it is reported that Lampard may make a move for another high-profile centre-forward during the summer transfer window.

Timo Werner has already been signed from RB Leipzig to compete with Abraham and Olivier Giroud for the starting spot.

Meanwhile, Brentford’s failure to win promotion to the English top-tier has reportedly handed Chelsea and Arsenal a significant boost in their hopes of securing the services of Said Benrahma this summer.

The 24-year-old forward has played an integral role in firing Brentford to the brink of the top flight for the first time since 1947, founding back of the net 17 times and creating nine assists in 43 Championship games.

However, the Bees fell just short courtesy of their 2-1 playoff final loss to Fulham on Tuesday night and reports that the Blues will now find it easier to prise the attacker away from Griffin Park.
