Turkish giants Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida has allegedly emerged as a surprise transfer target for Liverpool.

While Vida is regarded as a starter, Besiktas are believed to be open to cashing in on the Croatian centre-back due to his wages.

Recent reports have linked the versatile centre-back with a switch to Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp has identified him as a perfect replacement for Dejan Lovren who has been rumoured with a switch to AS Roma ahead of the next season.

However, according to Aksam, the Gunners have also identified the 31-year-old as a possible signing later in 2020.

Although there will likely be upheaval at the North London club his summer, Mikel Arteta may jump at the chance to secure the services of Vida for a fee in the region of €10m (£8.95m).

The World Cup runner-up still has just over two years left on his current deal and both Liverpool and Arsenal have chance to sign him on a cut-price deal.

Mikel Arteta is expected to be in the market for a new centre-back with David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi both have been tipped to depart from the Emirates Stadium ahead of the next season.
