Crystal Palace are looking over to Scandinavia as they aim to secure a couple of bargain signings for the second half of the Premier League season.
According to A Bola, Palace are closing in on a deal to sign Swedish Under-21 international Erdal Rakip from Benfica on a loan deal until the end of the season. Rakip netted eight times from midfield to help Malmo win the Allsvenskan title in 2017.
And, as reported by Expressen, Palace are also heading north to solve their goalkeeping problem. It is understood that they have contacted Copenhagen about the possibility of signing Sweden’s number one Robin Olsen.
Interestingly, both players are represented by agent Hasan Cetinkaya, meaning Palace could probably save on the phone bill this month.
But if Palace are looking to sign two of Cetinkaya’s players, why not make it three? After all, one of his clients could be a welcome addition to a Palace side whose options at left-back are set to be stretched with Jeffrey Schlupp suffering a serious injury and Pape Souare potentially heading to Newcastle United.
Riza Durmisi has made an excellent impression at Real Betis since moving to Spain in the summer of 2016, his swashbuckling style and set-piece wizardry making him one of best in La Liga in his position.
So much so that, according to Estadio Deportivo, Liverpool were interested in signing him during the summer. Durmisi probably isn’t needed at Anfield these days, however, with Andrew Robertson starring and Alberto Moreno finding some semblance of form.
But while Palace try to bring in Rakip and Olsen, they should ask the agent about his flying left-back too.
