Danny Ward is set to sign for Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Leicester City.
The Foxes have had an offer – believed to be in the region of £12million – accepted for the Welsh keeper and he is set to discuss personal terms with the 2015/16 Premier League champions within one day.
Ward had been due to start for the Reds in their pre-season clash with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Thursday night.
But with the Alisson’s £67million arrival of Alisson, Ward is now likely to sign for Leicester City.
The 25-year-old stopper has only made three first-team appearances for the Merseyside Reds inces joining the club back in 2012.
He spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Huddersfield Town and helped them to secure a promotion to the Premier League.
Ward returned to Anfield at the start of last campaign, however, was only Jurgen Klopp’s third-choice behind Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.
Reports last week claimed that Ward could be given his chance to become the Reds number one, with doubts over the futures of Mignolet and Karius.
Ward is expected to be a replacement for Kasper Schmeichel who has been rumoured with an exit from King Power Stadium.
