Arsenal are expected to make their move for Lille’s centre-back Gabriel within weeks, according to the Le10Sport reports.
The Brazilian centre-back has been a target of the Gunners for some months now, however, Mikel Arteta’s side faces stiff competition from other English teams like Everton and Chelsea for his services.
The young Brazilian defender has been at the French team since 2017 and he has developed into one of the most key players at Lille.
Gabriel has helped them qualify for the Champions League this campaign and also contributed as they earned a return to Europe for next campaign despite the French outfits being curtailed by the coronavirus.
The report suggests that Lille has to make one or two big sales in order to balance their books ahead of the next season, which could pave a way for the Gunners to sign the defender.
The further reports claimed that the French side values the centre-back at €30 million a the Gunners has maintained deal with the player’s entourage.
The Gunners have signed William Saliba last campaign, however, they allowed him to remain with Saint Etienne for the rest of the campaign.
The French defender is expected to become a key player of the Gunners first-team next campaign, should Mikel Arteta’s side sign Gabriel, he would likely partner the Frenchman in a new-look the Gunners defence next season.
