Barcelona are reportedly prepared to explore the possibility of landing Juventus centre-back and long-term Chelsea target Matthijs de Ligt in the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old Blues-linked star has been an important player for I Bianconeri during the 2021-22 season, making 31 appearances across all competitions, contributing two goals so far.

He still has more than two years left to run on his deal in Turin, but there has recently been talk surrounding the Netherlands international’s future, with the Dutchman thought to be open to a summer departure.

According to Fichajes, Blaugrana still have an interest in him, having been linked with Matthijs’ services on a host of occasions over the last few terms.

Xavi’s side are said to be closing in on the signature of Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen on a free transfer, but they are said to be targeting two new centre-halves this summer amid the speculation surrounding the Uruguay international Ronald Araujo’s future with Thomas Tuchel’s side one of the interested parties.

The former Ajax captain has made 106 appearances for the Old Lady since joining the Italian giants from de Joden in 2019, winning one Serie A trophy and one Coppa Italia in the process.
