Done Deal: Liverpool agreed transfer for highly-rated Englishman

Oxford United have officially announced the signing of Liverpool’s 21-year-old midfielder Cameron Brannagan for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old midfielder who came through the ranks at Anfield after making a move for five-year-old ago as he has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal at the Kassam Stadium.

Brannagan spent the second half of last campaign on loan at Fleetwood Town, helping them to reach the League One playoffs.

“It’s sad to be leaving Liverpool after such a long time but this is a really exciting challenge,” Brannagan told the Oxford United website after completing the move.

“Oxford play good football and I want to come here, play regular football, and help Oxford as much as I can.”

Brannagan has left Anfield having made nine games for the club.

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic following Philippe Coutinho’s transfer to Nou Camp.

The Croatian international midfielder is believed to be concerned about his role at Barcelona after the arrival of Coutinho as he feels that Everson Valverde might reduce his playing time.

The Brazilian made the £142m switch to Barcelona on Monday, but he is not expected to make his debut for the Catalan club for three weeks because of a thigh strain.
