Man United have confirmed that they have extended their loan contract for Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo until the end of the winter transfer window.
The 30-year-old’s initial loan deal has expired at the end of May, however, the 20-times English champions have now reached an agreement with Shanghai Shenhua to keep him at Old Trafford until the next year.
The new terms do not include an option to make his move permanent, suggesting that the Red Devils could still be in the market for a permanent forward when the transfer window will be re-opened.
Ighalo’s extension enables him to see out the rest of the 2019-20 season and first half of the 2020-21 campaign with the Red Devils after they were given the green light to make a return to action this month.

The precise fixture list is yet to be announced, but the Red Devils first game back will be against their former manager Jose Mourinho’s team Tottenham Hotspur on the weekend of June 19-21.
Ighalo has managed to found back of the net four times in eight games for the Red Devils since joining from Shanghai on deadline day of the January window.
