Premier League club, Nottingham Forest have secured the services of Manchester United stopper Dean Henderson on a season-long loan.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper was keen for first-team football after losing out to David de Gea in the battle to be No.1 position at Old Trafford.

“He’s hungry for more opportunities to play,” said Forest boss Steve Cooper.

He is Forest’s second summer signing after Taiwo Awoniyi who has arrived from Union Berlin.

Henderson has kept 17 clean sheets in 49 Premier League appearances, however, has not played a top-flight game since May 2021.

It is believed there is no option to buy within the loan agreement and that Forest are covering his full wages for the 2022/23 season.

“He’s played multiple times in the Premier League but has also experienced the Champions League and international football,” added Cooper.

“Again, Dean is someone who has attracted a lot of interest from other clubs and we’re delighted that he has chosen Nottingham Forest for our return to the Premier League.”

Former Sheffield United stopper, who won his solitary England cap in 2020, is believed to be targeting a spot in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup team later this year and playing regular first-team football has been key for him.

Brice Samba has been Forest’s first-choice stopper for the past three campaigns. The 28-year-old is under deal until 2023 however, talks over a new deal have stalled.
