Arsenal head-coach Unai Emery has rubbished the club’s links to Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill, as reported on Football London.
The Blues captain has emerged as a transfer target for the Norht London club in recent weeks
The Gunners are continuing to struggle in defence and Emery is keen to solve the defensive problems during the January transfer window.
Cahill is becoming increasingly frustrated with his lack of first-team football given to him by manager Maurizio Sarri so far this campaign.
The Englishman has mainly been used in the Europa League and Carabao Cup with David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger are both ahead of him in the pecking order.
When speaking about Cahill, Emery said:
“We didn’t speak about him. It’s not easy, improving our team in the transfer market, but the club is working, watching different possibilities.
“Maybe we can sign one or two players.”
It is unlikely that the West London club will allow Cahill to move to a direct Premier League rivals, with both clubs pushing for a top-four finish this campaign.
