Since joining the Merseyside Blues from Sunderland back in 2017, Pickford has gone on to make his 222 appearances for the club.

With less than two years left on his current contract, there has been widespread rumours surrounding his future at Goodison Park.

England international stopper has attracted interest from a number of top EPL teams, including Chelsea, Tottenham and Man Utd.

Recent reports had suggested that talks over a new Merseyside Blues contract had hit a stumbling block over the stoppers proposed salary.

However, Everton head-coach Sean Dyche reportedly urged the team to agree a new contract with the England number one as a matter of priority.

According to The Times, significant progress has been made in talks, and Pickford is now set to sign a new deal until 2027.

Pickford, who played a vital role in helping Everton avoid relegation last term, was always determined to stay with the Merseyside club despite strong interest from top teams.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s home meeting with Aston Villa, former Burnley boss claimed that Pickford’s new deal shows that he is happy with the “new regime”.

Dyche told reporters: “He’s a very, very good player, a good servant to this club so far and he’s going to continue to be that for sure.

“I think it’s a sign that he’s enjoying our new regime and he’s accepting of what we’re looking to offer. He’s been a fantastic player, so we want that to continue.”

With Pickford’s long-term future secured, Everton are also looking to agree a new deal with Alex Iwobi, who is out of contract in June 2024.

The Toffees occupy 16th place in the Premier League table and sit just one point above the relegation zone.
