Chelsea midfield destroyer, Jorginho has revealed that he was “open to negotiations” with Arsenal amid rumoured interest from the London rivals during the current transfer window.
The Italy international was heavily linked with a switch away from Chelsea over the summer, and the Gunners were believed to be considering him as an alternative to Lyon’s midfield maestro Houssem Aouar.
Mikel Arteta’s side ultimately activated Ghana international midfielder Thomas Partey’s release clause to sign him from Atletico Madrid, however, Jorginho has said that he would have been willing to hold talks with the capital club.
“I believe that every player is open to negotiations,” Jorginho told ESPN Brazil.
“So I believe there was something they talked about. And in the end it was decided that I remain here. Now my head is here and we’re going to do a great job with Chelsea, which I always wanted to do.”
The 28-year-old defensive midfielder who was also rumoured with Serie A defending champions, Juventus over the summer, has founded back of the net three times and provided one assist in six games for Frank Lampard’s side this campaign.
