Flamengo starlet emerged as shock transfer target for Liverpool

Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly among 17 clubs keeping tabs on Flamengo’s Daniel Cabral.

YouTube channel Flazoeiro (via Sport Witness) states that the 18-year-old midfielder has attracted attention from sides across the world.

But while there are several European heavyweights in the early race, elite English clubs are also keen.

As well as the Reds and the Red Devils, Chelsea and Manchester City have shown their initial interest.

Indeed, the report insists that the outfits keen on Cabral have thus far only made tentative approaches over the player’s signing.

Nevertheless, when the time comes, Flazoeiro believes his sale to top Vinicius Junior’s exit fee from Estadio da Gavea.

Vinicius signed for Real Madrid for €45 million (£38.7 million) in the summer transfer market of 2018.

But the report has said that Rubro-Negro are ready to see their next prized asset leave for an even bigger sum – the biggest in the club’s history.

Cabral currently operates in their Under-20 ranks but has taken initial forays into the senior team.

Daniel made an appearance on the bench for a league match in October while playing 23 minutes in a Copa do Brasil match with Atletico Paranense in October.

However, he has already made significant steps on the international stage. The youngster made his debut for his country’s U20s in an international friendly with Peru in last year’s December.

Before that, though, the holding midfielder featured in every match as Brazil’s Under-17s won their fourth World Cup title two years ago. In fact, the player only missed three minutes of that tournament.

It remains unclear whether – and if so when – the PL clubs will advance their interest. However, Daniel’s progress will be closely monitored by teams across Europe.
