Premier League giants Arsenal were keen on securing the services of RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano last summer.
The talented defender has opened the door to a summer exit from Bundesliga outfits RB Leipzig. The Fench centre-back has caught the eye of several team following his impressive displays for the club.
The teams interested in acquiring the Frenchman’s services are Premier League big boys Arsenal, who are long-term admirers of the centre-back.
It’s believed that new Arsenal head-coach, Mikel Arteta contemplated securing the services of the 21-year-old defender before signing Pablo Mari on loan.
According to reports, the North London club will renew their interest in Upamecano this summer.
The France U-21 player is seemingly not opposed to the idea of departing from RB Leipzig, though he insists that he is fully focused on winning the Bundesliga title.
When pressed about his future during an interview with RMC Sport, Upamecano said: “As I said, first I focus on Leipzig.
“And afterwards, I know that I am being courted, that there are clubs that want me.
“I will talk well with my agents and my parents at the end of the season. And we will make the right decision.”
Leipzig are keen on to hold on to Frenchman’s services and have slapped a £50m price tag on him to ward off potential suitors.
Should the Gunners pursue a contract for Upamecano, they’ll face competition for his services from Bayern Munich.
