Chelsea-owned central defender Levi Colwill has stated that he is prepared for Premier League football as he plans to gain promotion with his current club Huddersfield Town.

The 19-year-old Englishman has been a revelation for the Terriers, marshalling the team’s brilliant defence to a play-off finish.

Speaking to the Athletic, he discussed his loan transfer and desire to play in the English top-flight next season.

When quizzed about his next step, he said: “Things have been going well. Why am I going to start thinking about the future when I have to concentrate on the present? It has to stay that way.

“I think I’m ready (for the Premier League). I’ve learnt a lot this year so the next step I hope will be in the Premier League with Chelsea, Huddersfield or whoever.”

Colwill has drawn interest from his present side as well as Southampton, Fulham and Leicester City over a potential move this summer, so it is likely that he’ll be playing top-flight football no matter what.

However, Levi could be chosen to stay at Chelsea and fill the void left when Antonio Rudiger departs with the German is set to sign for Real Madrid.
