Serie A giants Inter Milan have reportedly won the race to secure the services of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen before the end of the January transfer window.
Despite their best efforts, North London club have accepted that the midfielder has no intention of extending his stay at the club, which is due to expire at the end of the current campaign.
While Real Madrid and Manchester United have been rumoured with the move for Denmark international, Inter Milan have now emerged as frontrunners to lure Eriksen’s at San Siro this month.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Danish midfielder has agreed to sign a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Italian heavyweights worth £6.5m per year.
However, the report suggested that Tottenham are yet to give the green light to a January exit from the club as they demand £17m for the long-serving player’s services.
Eriksen is believed to be keen to depart from North London before the end of the January, while Tottenham may be more open to a sale if they can push through the transfer of Benfica’s midfielder Gedson Fernandes.
Meanwhile, another Portuguese midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been rumoured with a switch to Old Trafford before the end of the season.
