Roma are keeping a close eye on Manchester United and Sweden star Victor Lindelof, according to the Italian outlet Calciomercato.

The 27-year-old defender has fallen down the pecking order at the English club following the arrival of Raphael Varane. The player is effectively the third-choice centre-half in the Red Devils squad.

In spite of being a dependable player for his country, Victor has often struggled to make an impression consistently for his club.

Jose Mourinho’s side could provide the star with an escape route and a chance to play regular football. They are keen on securing his services.

I Giallorossi have been put off by a valuation of €25m. Whether United will accept a lower sum or if the Serie A side is desperate enough to shell out the amount needed remains to be seen.

A move to Stadio Olimpico will reunite Lindelof with the former head coach. The 58-year-old tactician was the one who brought Victor to United back in 2017 while Jose was in the Old Trafford hot seat.

Signing the former Benfica ace will surely strengthen one key department for Mourinho. Whether United are prepared to let a backup player depart remains to be seen.
