Earlier in June, Steaua București president Gigi Becali claimed Manchester United were keen on signing Dennis Man and revealed he had asked €30 million for the striker’s services.
As Calciomercato reports, the Premier League side were not the only club interested in signing the 20-year-old as AS Roma sporting director Monchi wanted to beat the Premier League side to his signing, but their approach was rejected.
It is claimed that the attacker is one of the most wanted prospects of Romania and the Red Devils continue to hope to get hold of him in January.
There is still mention of a price tag of €30 million for the attacker, but the Italian publication insists a fee around half of that should convince Steaua București owner to sanction his sale.
Jose Mourinho is said to be still following Dennis Man’s progress, and both Manchester United and Roma are waiting for Gigi Becali to start accepting bids for the winger.
It remains to be seen if the 20-time English champions’ board will hand the Portuguese manager €30 million for the youngster while the Red Devils are well-stocked in attack and do not need a further upgrade.
