Jose Mourinho has told Manchester United to keep Victor Lindelof as Frech giants Lyon are keen on signing the Sweden international, according to reports from France. Victor Lindelof arrived at Old Trafford from Benfica for £31 million last summer transfer window but struggled to secure a regular role during his first season at the club.
The 24-year-old started only 13 games in the Premier League last season and was behind Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling and in the Portuguese manager’s pecking order.
According to L’Equipe, Lyon are interested in signing the Scandinavian before the summer window closes. But the report adds that Jose Mourinho is against the idea of allowing the central defender to leave his side.
Despite his low-key start to his career at the Red Devils, Victor Lindelof impressed for Sweden at the World Cup this summer. The defender has not yet joined up with his Manchester United teammates for their pre-season tour of the United States as he was given an extended holiday after his national team reached the quarter-finals of the tournament in Russia.
