Liverpool head-coach Jurgen Klopp has reportedly placed James Tarkowski and Jamal Lascelles on his shortlist of targets this summer.
Liverpool are yet to end the current season with the Champions League final against Real Madrid coming up on Saturday evening, however, it appears that work is already going on behind the scenes ahead of summer transfer window.
According to The Independent, Liverpool head-coach will look to sign one of Burnley defender Tarkowski or Newcastle United centre-back Lascelles before the season takes a start.
The Reds shelled out £75m to sign Dutch centre-back Virgil van Dijk as recently as January, however, Klopp is keen to sign players ahead of the August.
Newcastle United skipper has played a key role in the Magpies comfortably remaining in the top flight. However, the 25-year-old still has over five years left on his current deal.
Tarkowski has helped Burnley qualify for next campaigns for Europe League and the newly-capped England international has four years remaining on his contract at Turf Moor.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are also on the verge of signing Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir.
