Jurgen Klopp names Chelsea as surprise favourites to win Premier League tittle

Liverpool head-coach Jurgen Klopp believes that Chelsea are this year’s frountrunners for the Premier League trophy.

The West London club returned to the summit courtesy of a 3-1 win over Leeds United on Saturday evening, although the Meryeyside Reds and Tottenham Hotspur both secured a victories and still ahead of the Blues.

However, Klopp – who led the Merseyside Reds to their first-ever Premier League tittle last campaign – thinks that the Frank Lampard’s side are the favourites to go the distance in the 2020-21 season.

Speaking to reporters, Klopp said: “If I watch football games at the moment then Chelsea, for me, look like favourites.

“They have the biggest squad, great players playing well together after a rusty start – and they are full on. They have unbelievable opportunities to change in games and make changes from one game to the other – so that is it.

“I don’t feel we are chasing anyone at the moment – or that anyone is chasing us. Pressure is there for us but it’s about how much you think about that pressure, to be honest.”

Jose Mourinho’s side have returned to the top of the table in Sunday afternoon’s North London win before Liverpool take secured a 4-0 victory against Wolves.
