Liverpool head-coach Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he is a big fan of Borussia Dortmund forward Christian Pulisic and has refused to rule out a future move for his signature.
The 19-year-old forward who spent time working with the German manager as a youngster at Dortmund has been heavily linked with the Merseyside Reds Manchester United and Tottenham in the past.
The America international forward’s father recently dismissed the press reports, though, and Liverpool boss respects the fact that the 19-year-old who has been valued at £50m – is currently tied down with a new deal with the Borussia Dortmund.
“He has a contract at Dortmund, no? That’s the first problem,” he told reporters ahead of Liverpool’s friendly against BVB on Sunday evening. “I like Christian, I’ve known him since he was a kid. He’s still not really old, he’s a fantastic player, and it’s deserved people think highly of him in America.
“In Germany, it’s the same. If he wants to play in England or whatever one day then for sure he has the chance to do so but he’s at a really good club for his development at this moment. It’s really good to be at a club where they know him already.
“If – at one point – he will join us, I don’t know. I like him, it’s not that that could be the problem, but we respect contracts still and there’s no market I know about at the moment. We did our business and Dortmund are doing theirs. All good.”
The 19-year-old forward, comfortable on either flank, has found back of the net four times and set up five more in the Bundesliga last term.
