Maurizio Sarri is reportedly prepared to raid old side Chelsea for Italy international Emerson Palmieri.
Calcio Mercato states the left-back is a January target for the Old Lady, who have returned to the top of the Italian top-flight after beating Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan.
Maurizio currently has to rely on just Brazil international Alex Sandro on left side of his defence.
But the star’s fitness is shaky and the French midfielder Blaise Matuidi was drafted in as emergency cover in the previous month’s win over SPAL.
And Sarri wants Palmieri to come in and fight to become his side’s first-choice there.
Emerson has appeared as one of the top attacking full-backs back in 2019, with the Italian manager deserving huge credit for his rise at Chelsea.
Marcos Alonso was ultimately dropped after a dismal run of form, handing Palmieri his chance to shine a year after he had been signed by Antonio Conte from Roma for £17 million.
And the player’s ingenuity down the left helped the Blues secure a third-place finish in the PL, as well as the Europa League trophy.
But Maurizio Sarri is now hoping to be reunited with the Brazilian-born defender this winter. Palmieri, who has been out injured for a month, is being lined up for a fresh five-year deal at Chelsea.
But he could be tempted by a transfer to Turin, where trophies are almost guaranteed.
