Philippe Coutinho refused to rule out a future move away from Spain, but insists his focus is on performing for Barcelona.
The Brazil international has found life difficult at Barcelona and is yet to rediscover his best form in his year at La Liga side. Chelsea and Manchester United are plotting transfer moves for former Liverpool talisman, as speculation mounts Barcelona could be open to offloading the forward.
Coutinho addressed the talk after Barcelona’s 6-1 Copa del Rey win over Sevilla. He told BeIN Sports: ‘Nobody knows what will happen in the future. All I have in my head right now is to work hard.’
Ernesto Valverde issued a challenge to Selecao forward after he scored a brace against Sevilla, urging the Brazilian to continue his goalscoring form into the next game.
The Catalan giants forked out £142 million on Coutinho a year ago, and the midfielder was hailed as the player to replace Andres Iniesta.
Jurgen Klopp refused to be drawn into the speculation about Coutinho’s potential return to Anfield when questioned about the rumours earlier this month.
Despite the 26-year-old being unable to reach the heights he hit at Liverpool, the midfield star has still managed eight goals and five assists in 30 appearances this campaign.
