It has been revealed that Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic is keen on joining Liverpool this summer.

With  Catalan giants locked in talks with Liverpool over a deal for Philippe Coutinho, Don Balon suggest Ivan Rakitic would be willing to move in the opposite direction as part of a swap.

So far in negotiations, Barcelona have attemped to drive down Liverpool’s asking price by offering Rafinha, André Gomes and Arda Turan as part of the deal. But the Merseyside giants are not interested.

Concerned that Philippe Coutinho’s arrival would diminish his playing chances, the 29-year-old Rakitic would be willing to include himself in talks with Liverpool – unless he is offered assurances by coach Ernesto Valverde.

The Croatia international has also been linked with Manchester City this week, where manager Pep Guardiola is a big fan.

Meanwhile, Liverpool transfer target Naby Keita doesn’t currently look close to signing a new contract deal anytime soon.

The 22-year-0ld youngster has been heavily linked with Liverpool for much of this summer after a storming season in the Bundesliga last season.

The Merseyside giants are reported to have had two offer rejected for the Guinea international this summer, with Leipzig thought to be holding out for over £75m for the talented midfielder.

Leipzig may be at risk of losing Naby Keita next summer when a £48m release clause comes into effect, with top clubs sure to come back in for him in a year’s time.
