Leicester City are considering a move for Man United attacker Jesse Lingard for the summer transfer window of 2022. England international, a product of the Red Devils academy, has had a couple of turbulent seasons at Theatre of Dreams.
Lingard fell down the pecking order under the Norwegian manager and was dealing with some off-the-field issues that led to a difficult spell. This led to a loan move away to West Ham United in winter, which turned things around in a spectacular fashion.
Indeed, Jesse was one of the best footballers on display in the PL during the second half of the 2020/21 campaign, scoring nine goals and setting up six more, in the process helping the Irons finish sixth and qualify for the UEL.
Unlucky to have been omitted from the Three Lions squad for the UEFA Euro 2020, the English attacker courted plenty of interest from teams in the summer, with the Hammers, in particular, being keen to sign him permanently. However, a deal was not agreed as the Irons were unwilling to meet Man United’s demands for the English attacker.
Having stayed put at Man United, Jesse had a positive pre-season before contracting Covid-19, which came as a setback. However, having been back to full fitness now, Lingard enjoyed a productive international break with England and was on target for Man United in their 4-1 trouncing of Newcastle United this past weekend.
