Liverpool should embrace the challenge that comes with the competition against Manchester City for the Premier League title race this according to ex-Reds forward John Aldridge.
There have been clear signs of Liverpool feeling the heat of late, following two disappointing draws against Leicester City and West Ham United.
Their mini-slump has allowed the Citizens to go top on goal difference, albeit having one game.
Such has been the wait for Premier League glory, it is no surprise to see him focusing strongly on the Merseyside Reds progress.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, John Aldridge accepts that the Merseyside Reds are a different kettle of fish because of the 29-year drought, however, urged the Reds players to enjoy the pressure.
“No-one is worried about Manchester City, Manchester United or any other club – it’s because of this wait that we’ve had that has hyped it all up.
“The media love it and that’s why the extra pressure is on Liverpool Football Club. The fans are excited, the club is excited and the media feed off it. If it had been Chelsea in our position, there wouldn’t be anywhere near as much outburst from the media.
“You have to take every game as it comes but enjoy the moments and enjoy the exposure. Enjoy the pressure that comes with it. You get more enjoyment from each game you win from now until the end of the season.
“There’s no need to panic. Win the game in hand and we’re three points ahead. The goal difference could be a problem if it goes down to the wire.”
