Liverpool £185,000 a-week striker linked with surprise January move to Juventus

Juventus are reportedly readying a move for Roberto Firmino when the Liverpool forward enters the final six months of his deal in January.

Despite registering three goals and three assists in his last three Premier League matches, Firmino’s future at Anfield remains unclear, with his deal set to expire at the end of the current season.

As such, once the January transfer window will be re-opened, all foreign teams are free to discuss terms over a pre-contract deal to sign Firmino on a free transfer in the summer, unless the Brazilian extends his Anfield contract between now and then.

However, talk of a new deal at Anfield has died down in recent months, despite Roberto Firmino having expressed his desire to remain at the team after their 3-1 victory over Man City in the Community Shield, and the Liverpool ECHO claims that Juventus are now ready to pounce.

With Diogo Jota and new addition Darwin Nunez both capable of playing in Firmino’s preferred central position, it stays to be seen whether the Merseyside Reds will move to tie down a player who will turn 31 years old in October.

Liverpool did business with Italian giants, Juventus on transfer deadline day earlier this week, bringing in Arthur Melo on a season-long loan deal.
