Liverpool will look to part ways with midfielder Naby Keita if he does not perform when he recovers from injury, according to Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England and Aston Villa striker claimed the 25-year-old hasn’t lived up to expectations since his transfer from RB Leipzig.
The Guinean limped off after 53 minutes in the Reds’ clash with Leicester City on Sunday with a hamstring injury.
He is set to undergo further medical exams and it remains to be seen how long the player will be out for.
Since his switch to Merseyside in the summer of 2018 for a reported club record sum of £52.25 million, Naby has struggled with a series of injuries.
This campaign he is yet to complete the full 90 minutes of a top-flight action and he only managed it once last season.
Asked by Football Insider whether manager Jurgen Klopp will be worried about his player’s struggle to maintain his fitness, Gabriel said: “Klopp will be definitely frustrated with his injury.
“You can’t do anything about the injuries but even when he’s not injured he’s not putting in the performances that got him the move to Liverpool.
“I’m sure if he doesn’t buck up his ideas soon, when he’s fit, that he’ll be one of the players that Klopp looks to sell and bring in somebody else. Whenever he gets his chance he doesn’t seem to take it.”
The former RB Leipzig man has played eight times this season in all competitions for the Premier League champions.
He played 27 games last season but managed just nine starts in the league as the Anfield outfit secured their first Premier League title in 30 years.
