Liverpool and Chelsea go head-to-head to sign 23-year-old goalkeeper

Liverpool reportedly remain interested in securing services of Trabzonspor stopper Ugurcan Cakir later in 2020.

While Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker is the established number one under Jurgen Klopp, the potential exit of Adrian has left Merseyside Reds considering alternatives to the Spaniard.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to also monitoring the situation, however, the report claims that Liverpool are the frontrunners to get the deal done for the 23-year-old stopper.

Throughout this campaign, the recently-crowned Premier League champions have been rumoured with securing the services of Cakir, who has starred for Trabzonspor in Turkey’s top flight.

Despite rumours having recently gone quiet, Milliyet reports that the Merseyside outfit may still make an approach for the Turkish goalkeeper.

Trabzonspor are believed to be open to a sale this summer, despite Cakir still has four years left on his current deal.

Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard has been in the market for a new goalkeeper with the reports earlier last month claimed that Englishman is unhappy with his Kepa Arrizabalaga and Cekir has been one of the names rumoured with a switch to Stamford Bridge.

However, lately, Lampard has preferred Kepa over Willy Caballero and Spaniard has shown why he has been one best stopper’s.
