According to the Portuguese media, Liverpool are ready to rival Manchester United in the race for Sporting Lisbon playmaker Bruno Fernandes in the summer.
The 24-year-old attacker is likely to be one of the most demanded players during the upcoming transfer window as he has been in incredible form for Sporting this term, scoring 11 goals and registering seven assists in 21 games.
The Merseyside giants are long-term admirers of the Portugal international and were rumoured to be lining up an £87m offer for him last summer, however, Portuguese publication A Bola claim that Man United are also taking a keen interest in him.
Another Premier League giants, Chelsea could also be in the frame to sign Sporting star as well after they reportedly sent scouts to watch him and Benfica duo Ruben Dias and Joao Felix during the Lisbon derby earlier this month.
Bruno Fernandes has been one of the standout players in Europe this season and was appointed Sporting’s club captain last month after ex-Man United star Nani moved to Orlando City in the MLS.
Fernandes, who is the former Sampdoria and Udinese player was one of a number of players who rescinded their contract deals with Sporting Lisbon last summer after the squad had been attacked at their training ground by the club’s supporters.
However, while the likes of Willian Carvalho, Rui Patricio and Gelson Martins all left the club over that dispute, Bruno Fernandes eventually opted to stay. The midfielder has four years remaining on his current deal with Sporting.
