Liverpool backed to sign free agent Croatian goalkeeper

Liverpool should secure services of former Croatia No 1 Danijel Subasic to solve their stopper issues, according to ex-England star Paul Robinson.

The Merseyside Reds are set to be without first-choice stopper Alisson for a number of weeks.

The Brazilian suffered a shoulder injury during the training ground which will rule him out until the November.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been rumoured with a move for Stoke and England keeper Jack Butland in the recent days, however, Robinson has put forward a move for 35-year-old Croatian keeper Subasic.

Experienced stopper is currently a free agent having departed from French giants, AS Monaco at the end of last campaign.

It brought to an end an eight-year spell in Ligue 1, where he made almost 300 games.

Robinson is a huge admirer of Subasic, who was part of the Croatia national team at the 2018 world-cup tournament and he reckons he would be an upgrade on current Reds No 2 Adrian.

“Subasic is an outstanding goalkeeper,” he told Football Insider.

“A top goalkeeper that did brilliantly for Croatia in the World Cup

“I am very surprised that he is still a free agent. I thought somebody would have snapped him up by now.

“Adrian is out of form and his confidence looks shot to pieces.

“If Alisson is going to be out for six weeks, Subasic would be an outstanding signing for them.”
