Liverpool considering move for Barcelona creative playmaker

Liverpool are allegedly hoping to tempt midfielder Gavi away from Barcelona with a contract proposal of €4 million (£3.4 million) per season.

The 17-year-old Spaniard has enjoyed his breakthrough campaign in Catalan colours during the 2021-22 season but now has less than one-and-a-half months left to run on his deal at Camp Nou.

Blaugrana are desperate to tie the player down to fresh terms, but their long-standing financial struggles could make it difficult for the Spanish side to keep hold of the ace for the long term.

According to a fresh report from a Spanish outlet El Nacional, Xavi’s side can offer their academy graduate a higher salary than what Gavi currently earns.

But the Merseysiders have upped their proposal to a weekly wage of approximately £65,000 and a signing-on sum of €10 million (£8.4 million).

The report adds that the Anfield outfit are more than happy to shell out the €50 million (£43 million) to trigger the starlet’s release clause, while Chelsea are also planning to take advantage of the Catalans’ financial despair.

He has registered two goals and three assists in 26 matches for his team this term and has already collected four caps for his country’s national team.
