Liverpool could be about to lose out on PSV Eindhoven attacker Donyell Malen after the Dutchman allegedly reaches an agreement with Borussia Dortmund.
The Anfield side had been credited with an interest in the 22-year-old striker throughout the summer’s transfer market and were always said to be facing competition from the Bundesliga giants.
Now it’d appear Jurgen Klopp’s former club could be about to win the hunt and thwart the Reds.
This has come from a recent report from German outlet Sport Bild, as quoted by LFC Transfer Room on Twitter.
Interest in Donyell has intensified after the versatile striker enjoyed an impressive European Championships for his country.
That followed a breakthrough season in the Netherlands when Malen made a total of 45 appearances for Rood-witten last season, netting 27 goals and adding another 10 assists.
Although fans may never know how serious they were in their intentions to sign him, losing out on any target is always a major blow.
But, capable of operating across the frontline, there is no denying Donyell would’ve been a brilliant addition to the squad at Anfield.
Klopp could now be forced to look somewhere else perhaps at the likes of Pedro Neto, Jeremy Doku, Adama Traore or Raphinha – all of whom have been previously mentioned with the Reds.
