Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly ready to go head to head for the services of Lille box-to-box midfielder Renato Sanches.
The Portugal international has played a prominent role in Les Dogues’ run to the Ligue 1 trophy-winning season last year, founding back of the net once and assisting three more in 23 Ligue 1 games, although he only started 14 of them.
With the Merseyside Reds looking to fill the void left by Georginio Wijnaldum’s exit and the Gunners expected to wave goodbye to Granit Xhaka, both teams are believed to be in the market for additions to their respective engine rooms.
According to Onzemondial, the two Premier League giants are preparing to battle one another for the services of Sanches, who is contracted to Lille for another two years.
Sanches also appeared in all four of Portugal’s games at Euro 2020 – starting two of them – however, he ended the tournament without a goal or assist as the reigning champions bowed out in the last-16 stage.
The ex-Bayern Munich midfielder struggled with injuries for a good chunk of last campaign, though, and he boasts a total of five goals and five assists in 59 games for Lille.
