It looks as though for the Merseyside are trying to extend the contract of experienced midfielder James Milner.

The 33-year-old’s current contract expires at the end of this campaign, however, according to the Merseyside Reds vice-captain, talks are underway and the deal will be done ‘sooner rather than later’.

Journalist Melissa Reddy tweeted his quotes yesterday:

Milner is no longer a regular starter in Jurgen Klopp’s side, however, he’s still an important part of the squad as they chase for both Premier League and Champions League glory.

In his last start, win against Leicester before the international break, he produced a beautiful assist for Sadio Mane and scored a penalty.

In the EFL Cup before that, he again found back of the net and assisted, producing a Man of the Match performance from left-back.

Meanwhile, Manchester United reportedly place the highly-rated RB Leipzig striker and long-term Liverpool target Timo Werner on their wishlist ahead of the January transfer window, according to the latest reports.

The German star has netted 50 Bundesliga goals across the last three full campaigns, alongside adding seven in all competitions thus far this term.

The club are in desperate need of reinforcements in the attack having dispensed with and failed to replace attacking pair Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez over the summer.

According to the Transfer Window podcast, the Red Devils have identified the Leipzig key man as a potential candidate in preparation for the January market and ready to rival Jurgen Klopp’s side.
