According to the latest transfer news, Liverpool hero Lucas Leiva is on Lazio’s radar. That’s according to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who believed the Brazil international is being considered as a possible replacement for Lucas Biglia.
The 30-year-old Leiva has made 344 first-team appearances and won one League Cup after moving to Merseyside club from Brazilian outfit Gremio in his homeland 10 years ago.
But the experienced holding midfielder saw chances hard to come by under Jurgen Klopp last term, starting only 12 matches as Liverpool secured a fourth-place Premier League finish.
Lucas, who’s out of contract but still training with Liverpool, has been strongly linked with a summer switch to Turkish side Trabzonspor.
The Italian side Lazio are apparently considering capitalising on the fact a deal has not materialised though.
Di Marzio claims the Serie A giants are planning for life without Biglia. The Argentina international looks to be AC Milan-bound as they flex their financial muscle. And Lucas Leiva could be offered the chance to swap the Reds for Stadio Olimpico side.
The Brazilian midfielder is not alone in Simone Inzaghi’s thoughts as he plans for the future though. Di Marzio reckons the Lazio gaffer may target Besiktas’ Tolgay Arslan instead.
