Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Barcelona playmaker Pedri ahead of the summer transfer market, according to a recent report in England.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Reds have been monitoring the highly-rated teenager’s progress following his breakthrough campaign at the La Liga club this term.
The same article states that the Anfield outfit have gotten in contact with the 18-year-old’s agents ahead of the expiration of his current contract with the Spanish side.
According to the same story, Blaugrana are keen to hand the Spaniard a new long-term deal but Pedri’s current deal still has a year left to run with an option for a further two years.
The Daily Mirror go on to add that the midfield prodigy has a £70 million contract release clause, which Jurgen Klopp’s side are unlikely to meet considering his limited experience.
The outlet claims that Ronald Koeman’s team are hoping to convince their player to sign a fresh four-year contract that would insert a £350m contract exit clause.
Pedri has netted two goals and has made three assists in 30 matches in the Spanish top-flight this season, while the 18-year-old has scored one goal and has made one assist in seven UEFA Champions League appearances.
