Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Ajax wondekrid Perr Schuurs following a defensive crisis at the club.

The Merseyside Reds head-coach Jurgen Klopp has already lost Virgil van Dijk who has been ruled out for the rest of the season following the ACL injury, while versatile midfielder Fabinho limped off against FC Midtjylland in the Champions League in midweek.

As a result, Nathaniel Phillips has played alongside Joe Gomez in the Mersyeside Reds 2-1 victory over West Ham United, however, Jurgen Klopp is believed to be eyeing up reinforcements as the Premier League defending champions look to defend their title.

According to The Mirror, German boss was impressed by Schuurs’s showing in Ajax’s Champions League loss to the Reds, and Liverpool will not hesitate to make a move for talented defender when the transfer window will be re-opened in January.

However, the report also claims that the Mersyeside Reds will not be the only ones vying for Schuurs’s services, with the former Reds triallist gaining the attention of a number of top teams since breaking into the Ajax first team.

Schuurs is tied down to Dutch giants until the end of the 2021-22 campaign.
