Liverpool may have been offered a possible solution to their central defensive problems as West Ham United’s Issa Diop is reportedly being allowed to depart on loan this month.
Former Everton head coach David Moyes is apparently ready to loan out Diop for the remainder of the campaign; and with Liverpool being touted with an interest previously, the French star could be in the frame for an Anfield move.
The 24-year-old defender has fallen out of favour at the London Stadium in spite of having been an integral part of their plans previously.
Normally, manager Jurgen Klopp would likely not bad an eyelid at this possible loan swoop, but owing to the defensive absentees within his roster, a temporary deal for Issa may be of interest.
Having featured in more than 30 Premier League matches in each of his last two campaigns with the Hammers and 69 in total, the towering central defender international has seen barely any senior team action this season, making just four league appearances.
The struggling Premier League heavyweights are crying out for an additional centre-back of almost any description.
After utilising two midfielders at centre-half in recent matches as Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips watch on, it has never been more evident that new players are needed, especially with Joel Matip’s continued unreliability.
Whilst the Hammers may be reluctant to offer a helping hand to a league rival, in spite of the east Londoners’ strong start and Liverpool shaky form of late, the two outfits are competing on different fronts.
